It all started when my Mother gave me plasticine to play with as a small child. I sculpted my way through childhood and into Gloucestershire College of Art and Design. Here the introduction of working from direct observation of the human body has had a lasting impact on me.
My working life was spent teaching Art . Leaving teaching enabled me to devote my energies to discovering ways of developing my own work and I have been fortunate in having my work exhibited and sold.
Lorna Tyler sculpts tender and poignant portraits of children, the human body and animals from direct observation. All her works are original unique pieces made in grogged clay which has been fired to over 1200c so the sculptures should be frost proof. Her work has been exhibited at, amongst others, the Mall Galleries, ING Discerning Eye and the Royal Society of British Artists.
